Pre-contractual information

The insurance contract comes into force on the date and time specified in the policy, provided that the insurance premium is paid in accordance with the insurance contract.

All information on the conclusion, validity and operation of the insurance contract is available in Latvian.

Legal relations before concluding the distance insurance contract are discussed in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Latvia.

The execution of the insurance contract takes place in accordance with the Law on Insurance Contracts, the Law on Insurance and Reinsurance, the Law on Distribution of Insurance and Reinsurance and in MTPL (OCTA) insurance - the Law on Mandatory Liability Insurance of Owners of Land Vehicles, as well as other binding legal acts of the Republic of Latvia.

All insurance terms and insurance product information can be found on BALTA's website www.balta.lv or in any branch of AAS "BALTA" throughout Latvia. Save them to your computer or other device. Contact us if information needs to be sent by email or post.

BALTA, based on the information provided by the user of the BALTA self-service portal, has ascertained and evaluated the user's requirements and needs and makes an objective insurance offer prepared to meet the user's requirements and needs, and based on the received offer, the customer could make a decision. The offer is not prepared as an individual recommendation prepared by the insurer, as recommendations are not provided on the BALTA self-service portal.

The Insurance Contract Law, the Insurance and Reinsurance Distribution Law and other valid regulatory acts of the Republic of Latvia are applied in the consideration of disputes related to the execution of the insurance contract. Consideration of disputes is subject to the legislation of the Republic of Latvia. You can find out more about the procedure for submitting and handling customer complaints here.

If the insurance term is less than one month, the policyholder cannot use the right of cancellation. If the insurance term is longer than one month, then the policyholder can use the right of cancellation, i.e. within 14 days from the day of concluding the insurance contract, the policyholder can withdraw from the concluded insurance contract. In this case, the policyholder must send a written refusal to AAS "BALTA" e-mail address: info@balta.lv. The insurer shall refund to the policyholder the part of the insurance premium related to the unused insurance period no later than 14 days after receiving the refusal.

When paying the insurance premium, the policyholder confirms that the information specified in the insurance contract, incl. the specified personal data (name, surname, personal identification number, date of birth) is true and complete and before paying the insurance premium, the policyholder has familiarized himself with the information and terms specified in the insurance policy, and reflects the policyholder's free will.

The policyholder confirms that before paying the insurance premium, he has access to the terms and the information document of the insurance product mentioned in the offer and/or is informed that the terms and information of the insurance product are available at www.balta.lv or at any branch of AAS "BALTA" throughout Latvia.

The insurer's representative does not receive commission compensation for insurance contracts concluded on the BALTA self-service portal.

The supervision of insurance activities is carried out by the Bank of Latvia.
