Tick-borne disease insurance

Tick-borne disease insurance will provide one-off financial support of EUR 400 to employees if a tick-borne disease is diagnosed as a result of a bite from an infected tick during the validity period of the insurance contract.

  • A particularly attractive price of up to EUR 5 per person per year, depending on the number of employees in the company.

  • No hidden conditions – the insurance is valid even if the person has not been vaccinated.

Companies that purchase tick-borne disease insurance for their employees may receive tax benefits in accordance with Latvian laws and regulations. For further information, please contact the State Revenue Service.

Tick-borne encephalitis can only be protected against by timely vaccination, while there is no vaccine for Lyme disease.

Which documents should be submitted to claim an indemnity for Lyme disease?
A medical certificate from the attending physician and laboratory results confirming the diagnosis: a positive serum Borrelia burgdorferi-specific IgM antibody test result followed by a rising IgM antibody titre immediately after diagnosis and a repeat test after 10–14 days or a positive Borrelia burgdorferi IgM antibody confirmatory test result (Immunoblot).

Which documents must be submitted to be indemnified in the case of tick-borne encephalitis, myelitis and encephalomyelitis:

  • results of serological tests confirming the diagnosis;
  • excerpt from inpatient hospital.
